Talk about smartphones in India under 30k, and the choices are way too many to count. From the humble Apple iPhone 6 to One Plus 5 and more, there’s something for everyone. So, where does Vivo V7+ fit in? Priced under 20k, Vivo V7+ has been promoted as the selfie-lover’s device. Here’s a quick review, so that you can understand better.
What you get?
Vivo has packed the V7+ with the 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor matched with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. You can further expand the ROM to 256GB via a microSD card. You get a 5.99-inch HD screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. Weighing at just 160 grams, this is a slim device with depth of 7.7mm. In terms of camera, you get a mighty 16 MP shooter on the rear and a 24 MP shooter on the front. It runs on Android 7.1 out of the box, and has a 3225mAh battery that’s non-removable. This is a dual SIM device, which accepts Nano-SIMs. You also get a Gorilla Glass covering, which adds to the beauty of the display.
Pros and cons
This is the first device from Vivo to come with an 18:9 aspect display, and in that department, Vivo has done good, given that they just promote phones for cameras alone. Also, the device gets Android Nougat, which is a good shift for the brand that has been producing phones with its own skin. Cameras, both on the front and rear, work expectedly well. The battery offers a day’s charge, which is pretty okay, compared to some of the other devices.
However, for the price you pay, the HD display is kind of disappointing, and there are not many things you can expect from the hardware either. Also, a lot of devices have dual cameras at this price point, so that’s a bummer, especially if you intend to buy this for the cameras alone. Nevertheless, pictures were just perfect as you would have expected from the front shooter.
Vivo V7 Plus price in India is ₹21990, but there are decent discounts online. However, having said that, this isn’t something that blows the category, but it doesn’t disappoint either. You might have expected a tad more from the display, but for the 18:9 aspect ratio, it is still forgivable. On the whole, Vivo V7 Plus is a fun phone for those in love with selfies, and if you can get an offer online, it makes more sense. As far as competition is concerned, Samsung Galaxy A5 is a good choice too in the category, and Oppo also recently launched one with similar features.
